Dear Friends,
We trust you have enjoyed
your summer! Time for a news update.
Slovenia
The Young Rite in Slovenia is an active and vibrant group. Services are held weekly in the
Sofijin Hram (Sophia's Temple) in Celje and during the summer an outdoor service was held
at the Theosophical Summer camp at Gozd Martuljek. An intensive training programme for
priests ended in June and already two priests have now been authorised as celebrants. We
congratulate Danica Pavlič and Vlasta Milčič on celebrating their first public
services. Two other priests are standing in line, next to the seven priests currently
authorised.
Soon a third circle will open in Postojna - they intend holding
weekly services starting sometime this autumn. As soon as more details are available, we
will let you know.
New bishop
With the group in Slovenia ever expanding, the bishops of the Young Rite have decided to
consecrate Right Reverend Domen Kočevar to the Episcopacy. Domen has been instrumental in
setting up the Sofijin Hram in Celje, which now boasts a library containing more than 6000
books and hosts two or three activities per week as well as the weekly services of the
Young Rite. +Domen recently received his Master of Theology degree at the University of
Maribor, his thesis was about the Liberal Catholic Church in Slovenia from its inception
up to its current form within the international Young Rite community. We congratulate
+Domen and wish him every inspiration and support as a new Servant of the servants of
God.
An event like this requires much preparation and a date has not
yet been set. We expect sometime in the first half of 2012... again, we will inform you as
soon as more details are available.
South Africa
The Centre of Sophia in Pretoria dedicates itself as a home of Ceremonies and Studies in
Mystic and Sacramental Christianity. Currently services of the Young Rite are being held
in the Bishop Johannes van Alphen Chapel on a regular basis.
