The Universal Mystery Rite uses a simple yet profound ritual.The ritual itself is
secret. This is not in order that some people may be superior to others, but a
prerequisite to be able to implement an initiatory process. The word initiation stems from
"to initiate" or to start. By conferring an initiation on someone some insight
is given, which will allow this person to view his or her life from another vantage point.
The idea behind an initiation is therefore one of surprise. A surprising view is offered
to the Seeker. If the ritual was public, the insights would be known to all and it could
no longer offer a surprising view.
The ritual is performed in a space, called a temple. Certain people perform particular
functions within the ritual. The ideal to which the Universal Mystery Rite subscribes is
that each Seeker for the Light should fulfill every function within his or her career in
the Rite.
