| The Universal Mystery Rite limits its organisation to the bare minimum. Organisations
are meant to provide a vehicle for the manifestation of a particular objective. The danger
is that the organisation becomes a purpose in itself. In the Universal Rite there is no
Grand Master or hierarchy. Any two persons who have received all three degrees and have
fulfilled all of the functions in the temple are automatically authorised to set up a new
temple, if they are able to find another three persons of the third degree to assist them.
In other words, a minimum of five people of the third degree, two of whom have fulfilled
all of the temple functions, are required to set up a new temple. What then is the
organisation? In fact, nothing more than adherence to a particular ritual, adherence to
the principles of secrecy with regard to the ritual itself and the admittance of only
those to the temple who live a clean life and promise to keep the ritual itself secret
too. What remains is the definition of what living a clean life entails. This is expounded
upon in the page about membership.
